A Grade II* Listed Building in Manton, Rutland

Church of St Mary, Manton

North aisle. Blocked north doorway with round headed arch. Norman methods, but not their decoration, so later C13. Perpendicular Gothic straight headed windows with square hood moulds, but the aisle western window almost has Early English Gothic plate tracery. Perhaps it is C19 restoration work. On the left of the clerestory, half a window has been obscured by the transept. The quatrefoil vents at floor level are also seen at St Michael and All Angels at Edmondthorpe, Leics.
