Parish Church. Early C12 Nave. Circa 1230 the Chancel wall probably widened to the same width as the Nave. Chancel Arch may have been removed then or C15. C19 Restorations when North Vestry South Chapel and South Porch were added. Flint rubble walls stone dressed excepting West Tower which is a good example of C16 brickwork. Red tiled roofs. Chancel C19/20 east window of 3 lights with 3 roundels over in 2 centred arch. The rear splays and arch are original. C19/20 doorway and recess in north wall. C19/20 2 light window with roundel over to south wall. In place of the Chancel Arch is a moulded beam on chamfered wall posts with curved brackets. Excellent panelled Chancel roof of 6 cants with moulded beams and carved figures on the principals. Moulded wall plates with carved cresting. Nave North wall C15 window of 3 trefoiled ogee lights with tracery over in a two-centred head. Further west the C12 North Doorway (blocked). Plain jambs, semi-circular head and plain tympanum. Lintel ornamented with foliar and chevron etc. design. South Wall has a C15 restored 3 light window similar to that in N wall. C12 South Doorway with C16 4 centred arch and C12 jambs. The Door C16 of studded boards with moulded strips and good strap hinges. The semi-circular rear arch is original. Nave Roof - dated 1701 with initials I.S. of 7 obtuse cants, ceiled and pargetted. West Tower of red brick with diapering. Parapet is crenellated and crow stepped with a corbel table of trefoiled arches. Crenellated octagonal North East stair turret higher than the tower. Tower Arch is 2-centred, of 3 orders, 2 of which are chamfered responds with semi-circular shafts with moulded capitals and bases of stone. West window of brick is of 3 lights with intersecting tracery in a 2- centred head. Moulded label, jambs and arch. Mullions renewed in wood. Second stage South and West walls have a window of one pointed light. Bell Chamber East, South and West walls have 2-light windows with 4-centred heads. North wall with a similar single window. Diagonal buttresses. Stair Turret doorway with chamfered jambs and 4-centred arch. The C16 door of studded battens with hollow chamfered strips and good strap hinges. Font C15. Traceried panels, carved square bosses to octagonal bowl. Moulded base and traceried sides to stem. One side of step enriched with a band of quatrefoils. Glass. In Nave fragments in tracery of North window C15 also C19 glass. Piscina In Chancel C14 with modern basin, moulded jambs and trefoiled head. In Nave. C15, hollow chamfered jambs and cinquefoiled head with carved spandrels. Basin, Back and sides cased with modern marble. C15 Seat in Chancel made up with 2 standards with carved poppies, moulded rail and cusped panelling to back. Stool C17 stool with turned legs and carved strap-work rails. Monument on south wall AD1730 Poley Clopton MD. 2 painted boards - 10 Commandments.
