Farmhouse, now house. Late C15/early C16; extended to left in early C17 and
to right in mid C18; refronted in 1916, when eaves raised. Render over
limestone rubble; gabled pantile roof; rendered brick end and ridge stacks.
3-unit plan. 2-storey, 3-window range with lower 2-storey, 2-window range to
right having gabled C20 porch. Timber lintels over C20 two to 3-light
casements and half-glazed door to left. Central bay of rear elevation has
early C17 two and 3-light ovolo-moulded wood-mullioned windows; C20
flat-roofed extension to right, probably incorporating part of C17 stair
projection. Interior: central late Cl5/early C16 one-unit section has
chamfered ogee-stopped beams, with morticing to soffit of transverse beam on
left probably denoting position of original cross-passage; chamfered stone
jambs and C17 ovolo-moulded wood lintel to late C15/early C17 fireplace on
right, with mid C18 bread oven; 3-bay roof with trenching for through purlins
to two jointed crucks with C17 butt purlins; early C17 bay to left has
ogee-stopped chamfered beams; mid C18 bay to right has 2-bay roof with butt
purlins to collar truss. An early example of a storeyed late medieval house.
