History

Partly an original bridge of the Brunel railway of 1850, later extended on the downhill side.

Exterior

Railway bridge. Built of coursed rockfaced stone with tooled stone dressings. A wide chamfered segmental arch spans the road, narrow brick lining to the vault and blue-brick header arch to downhill (E) side, voussoirs to the uphill (W) side. Above is the deck with side rails. Parapet has coping on downhill side, lost to uphill side which has inset metal straps; at base a roll-moulded band. Curved and angled abutments partly buttressed.

Reasons for Listing

Listed as part of the Brunel railway close to the Brunel station. Group value with this, the footbridge and the former steam mill within the works.
