Chancel. C13 double sedilia, hijacked by the Rev Boundy and given inscribed tablets for a monument. The urn at the top has a Hebrew inscription, those at the sides M, S. On the arch -And to be with Christ, which is far better-. Below this a distich in Greek characters, then -Peter Boundy MA Rector here Born at Shelton Bedfordshire 22nd Apr 1661. Married Mrs Millicent Smith of Rushden Northants 3rd Oct 1686. God gave them 8 sons and 6 daughters-. Text -Surely I come quickly- Revelations 20.22 (Jesus promises the Second Coming). -Vigilate orate et spes- (Be vigilant (of your behaviour) praise (God) and hope (for resurrection) ). The date is approximately 1730, but no final dates are inscribed for him or his wife. (Photo Jun 2007).
